Hot Wheels!

This must be the year of the wheel- because they keep coming my way! At the end of last year I got a new wheel chair and a new handicapped accessible vehicle- practical wheels, but ones I use every day. Now here we are in June and I have received more wheels! But these are different because they are FUN WHEELS!

The first set of fun wheels I got was from an organization called JJ's Toys for Friends.  They make amazing adaptive equipment for people like me in memory of their son JJ. They gave me a new jogging stroller that can turn into a bike trailer, AND it also has pop on beach wheels! We have been waiting for something like this for a long time.

I can't wait to use these fun wheels all summer long! My family likes to go on bike rides and to the beach, so it will get lots of use. Just wait until you see the next set of wheels...

A special group at the University of Rhode Island, called Lil' Rhody Riders, created an adaptive ride on car for me.  It is a collaborative project between the physical therapy and engineering departments. It is so amazing! I can push a button and make it go all by myself! Or we can switch modes and my mom or dad can drive me with a remote control. It is going to be so fun riding around my neighborhood this summer!

This is going to be a great summer! Thanks so much to JJ's Toys for Friends and Lil' Rhody Riders!!

Thank You Make A Wish Foundation!

I just got the most amazing gift from Make A Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island- a trip to Disney World! This was not just any trip- but the most incredible vacation ever! Let me show you why it was so great!

First, we got picked up by this awesome limo! I have never been in a limo before- but it was so cool.

When we got to Florida we went straight to Give Kids the World Village. This is a magical place that is only available to kids getting a wish. We had a little house in the village and we ate in the "Town Hall" for our meals. They had a boundless playground that I could go on with my wheelchair. They even had rides that I could go on in my wheelchair too! There was an arcade where you could play all the games you wanted without having to pay! Mayor Clayton and Miss Mary were the village characters that we played with all week- there were shows and parties every night. They even came and tucked me into bed on my first night!

There was a fun pool with a splash park too. I didn't really like the splashing though. The Castle of Miracles is a magical place where I got to put my star on the wall. There are over 154,000 stars inside the castle. In the castle there is also a special tree that has a squirrel in it named Buttons- he made me and my brother and sister each a special pillow.

The craziest thing about Give Kids the World was the Ice Cream Palace that was open all day long and we could get whatever we wanted!! We had so much fun there. We also went to the Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios.

I really loved the water rides at the parks the best. I got to go on lots of rides and see characters too.

I really loved Harry Potter World at Universal. We got a special wand that let us move things in the store windows with special spells. I got to taste some Butterbeer too!

On our last night we went to Epcot and stayed for the fireworks. We were so close! We also ate at a fun restaurant in Morocco. It was called Marrakesh and they even had belly dancers!
